100%  STAYS IN KNOX COUNTY

THE KNOX COUNTY CANCER PATIENT FUND IS FIGHTING TO SURVIVE

Our 2nd Annual Fall Festival on Sept 10th fell short of our goal. The volunteer fundraisers worked so hard for 12 to 14 hours trying to raise enough to keep the fund going. The people didn't stand behind the Knox County Cancer Patients and to me that is so sad, since we have such a high number of  cancer patients in our county. I don't know if people are harden to the word cancer or if it is such a common word that it doesn't have an effect as to how  awful the disease really is. It is a life and death matter and such an ordeal to face.
We average 5 to 6 patients a week that we assist, and that makes the funds go fast. All of our funds are used for the Knox County Cancer Patients in Knox County.

<> Since the Fall Festival we have had some people to come forward with donations to assist the Knox County Cancer Patient Fund, and have offered to help us with the Daniel Boone Festival. Our booth will be on the porch of the VINTAGE HOUSE. Thanks so much to the owners.
Come by and sponsor us in doing so you will be helping a cancer patient.

If you can make candy, or could bring a 12 pack of soft drinks by, or a cooked dish of your choice it would be greatly appreciated. We will serve food from Thursday through Saturday for the duration of the Festival. Give me a call and tell me what you would like to bring, to support the Knox County Cancer Patient Fund. 545-0171.

 Suggestions are:
Chicken n' Dumplings - Dressing- green beans-casseroles- pinto beans-corn bread-candy-drinks-macaroni and cheese-
coleslaw
-wieners- hamburger meat- tomatoes- lettuce-buns-chips- one dish per person would go a long way toward the cancer patient fund.

My name is Betty Jordan

I am a cancer survivor and I do fundraiser for the Knox County Cancer Patient Fund.

We are the only county that gives directly to the cancer patient.

100% of the funds stay in the county for our very own patients.

The fundraisers and I have a desire and that  is to assist the cancer patients with food, gas and lodging when going to the doctor for treatment.
All our funds come from donations and fundraising only that is our one and only source. That is why we need every one to get behind this program. When one is stricken with cancer they are not likely to be able to keep working while going through the worst part of it. Cancer can do a job on a family financially as well as mentally.

Donations:

If you would like to make a donation mail it to Betty Jordan 312 Cumberland Ave Barbourville Ky 40906 make checks payable to "Knox County Cancer Patient Fund"

If ever there was a time to help it is now, there is an average of 3 to 4 patients come in each week for  our help that is an average of twelve hundred dollars per month.
With our funds going out like that the need is so great to keep this fund built up. There is not a family that is not touched in some way with cancer.100% of our fundraising stay in the county for our very own cancer patients. Can you help? the answer is YES. Don't wait for some one else to do it ask yourself what can I do?
Cancer has touched from our babies to the eldest. Can you see this need and open your heart to the ones who have this dreaded disease.
If you have ever walked in the shoes of some one going through cancer it would be easy to relate to their need.

TESTIMONIAL:

My family was given help by the Knox County Cancer Patient Fund, the funds were such a blessing, we lost the family member however we are so grateful to the fundraisers to work so hard to help others.

FUNDRAISING

The funds for our program comes from many sources, such as yard sales, donations, churches, individual donations, dinners, benefits, school  participation, auctions, as you can see it takes a lot of hard work to make these things work. Can you help?

YES!   YES!   YES YOU CAN!!.

TESTIMONIAL:
I am a cancer survivor. I had a 25lb cancerous tumor and one of my kidneys removed. The Knox County Cancer Patient Fund gave to me to help me get to a specialist in San Arbor Michigan.

The program is great and I thank God that He has people who care for their friends and neighbors to help them during such a time.

Samantha Mazzline Smith

TESTIMONIAL:

I too am a cancer survivor,  I had breast cancer in 1989 this program wasn't set up then however the people of Knox Co. had fundraising for me  and made my trips to Lexington possible

with their donations. . They also made it possible for me  to buy the medicine that saved my life. I cannot forget what it meant to me and that is one of the main reasons I help with this fundraising. I had worked until I wasn't able to do so because of the disease. Others find themselves in that same situation.

We have a great need here in this county. You would only know  this if it touched you or your family. I thank God first of all for sparing my life to help others and for giving me life.
Betty Jordan

I have friends and family who assist me in the Cancer patient fundraising, without them the success could never be. With more help we could certainly help more patients and that is the object. Now the question is not can you help but WILL YOU HELP, I hope and pray the answer is YES.

TESTIMONIAL:

I am one of the fundraisers and I feel our county is blessed to have this program. We need to think of our own cancer patients. Even if they find a cure tomorrow we will still have cancer to deal with.
The high rise of cancer here in Knox County is on the rampage. If you would please help us help our friends and neighbors during their time of distress.

Chelsie Fredrick

TESTIMONIAL:
I feel that our own Knox County patients need to be considered during their time of sickness. My mother and I have a yard sale set up for the fund in the old Walton's Upholstery Building on the Artemus Road. If we can just be of a little help it is worth it to them. I help with the fundraising because I firmly believe in the cause.

Henretta Gambrel& Odie Walton

TESTIMONIAL:
My son was diagnosed with Cancer this year and was not able to work. The Knox County Cancer Patient Fund helped him with his gas money to the doctors. I want to thank them for their help.

Margaret Jordan

I am one of the fundraisers and I know first hand that the Knox County Cancer Patient Fund has helped a number of my friends and relatives. It is a good program. Help us keep it going.

TESTIMONIAL:
I feel the fundraising for our cancer patients is very worthwhile. I have had family members who have had cancer, the program wasn't in effect at the time and I do know the hardships of what cancer can do to a family. Our county is very much in need of a program such as this.
Charlotte Jordan

TESTIMONIAL:
Our cancer patients are blessed to have a program such as this. I have been a fundraiser for some time now. I can say it is what our county needs is for our fundraising to stay with us to help our family's and friends who are stricken with cancer.
